For this gathering of work, there was a design of a poster series for A Tribe Called Quest. Inspiration came off of listening to their album "People's Instinctive Travels and Rhythms of Life" on record player and thinking of what it would look like to create art based on their music. Instead of jumping right in though, there was a research of artist Richard Prince who designed the album artwork for multiple of ATCQ's albums.

Pictured above is my mood-board for these posters. Prince as an American painter and photographer has created great figural and abstract character paintings for the album covers above. Prince has worked outside of the box in ways such as using record sleeves to act as representations in his work (can be seen on the far left middle piece with the white).
Type test
Decided type for the poster, "Wallet in El Segundo"
Decided type for poster, "Bonita Applebum"

Pictured above was the decided medium for these posters, inspired by earlier talked about artist Richard Prince who used painting for the majority of his work.
Pictured below are the final results for this poster series. Each poster contains an Artivive component attached to it so that if they are scanned through the app Artivive (available on the App Store for free) each painting will switch to an imagery of a record player playing a different video of a song from the album. These posters are intended to bring the record player right on your wall in front of you by a quick scan to enjoy and share music for yourself or with others.

People's Instinctive Travels Music & Merchandise
This campaign was created off of the poster series. This is a hypothetical campaign that advertises if A Tribe Called Quest was performing as their 90s selves in Floyd Fest Festival. After much research, the result was a collage style set of designs implemented on the outdoor advertising and merchandise. Each one contains cut up parts of the original painting posters to create a recycled, but refreshing new look.
All three posters, button pins, and the entry wristband are triggered through Artivive, free on the App Store, to transform into a record player showing a different song playing for each separate trigger. This feature is meant to bridge music and art but also physical and virtual realities. Please enjoy!
